Hugh Mackay AO is a well-known social researcher. He created the Mackay Report which helped Australians look at themselves and their society. He is the author of many books of social analysis, ethics and communication, as well as a novelist and newspaper columnist. Amongst the best known are Why Don’t People Listen?, Reinventing Australia, The Good Life and The Art of Belonging. His most recent book is Beyond Belief. He holds several honorary doctorates from Australian universities and is currently an honorary professor of social science at the University of Wollongong, as well as adjunct professor in the Faculty of Arts at Charles Sturt University.
